Meeting With A DC Food Entrepreneur
My mom and dad are entrepreneurs, and they said that the smartest thing I could do for my business was to meet with successful food entrepreneurs and ask them questions. So, my mom helped me set up a meeting with Sophia Maroon, the founder of Dress It Up Dressings.
I was a little mad that I had to leave sports camp early for my meeting, but I knew it was important. The night before we thought up a list of questions and I re-read them in the car to prepare for my meeting. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was excited to give out my new business card!
Ms. Maroon was so nice to me! She answered all of my food business questions, and gave me a ton of great advice about business licenses, industrial kitchens, and where to buy jars. I liked asking her what mistakes I should avoid.

I got to try Ms. Maroon's Blackberry Vinaigrette and it was AWESOME! I just ate it with a spoon. It's even better on salads or sliced cucumbers. It is my new favorite dressing.
Ms. Maroon tried my peanut butter and really liked it. She said she liked that it wasn't too sweet, and that it had a great texture. She also gave me some great ideas for seasonal flavors to try at farmers markets.
Today I learned that you can avoid a lot of mistakes and learn all kinds of cool stuff from entrepreneurs in your industry.
