Door to door peanut butter sales

Merrics Marvelous Peanut Butter | Kid Entrepreneur

The Peanut Butter Startup: Door to Door Sales

My first day of door-to-door sales taught me a lot. So at first no one was home. I knocked on four doors with no answers. I didn't give up. The first place someone was home, that person bought a jar of my gourmet peanut butter!

My Sales Process:

  • First I ring the doorbell and knock on the door.
  • Then when they open the door I ask them "Do you like peanut butter?'
  • Then I ask if they want a sample of the peanut butter I make.
  • After they try the sample I ask them if they want to buy my peanut butter.
  • If they say "yes" I sell it to them. If they say "no" I try to persuade them to buy.

I made nine jars of peanut butter today, and I sold nine jars of peanut butter today!

The last house I stopped at, the lady bought one jar. Then, as I was leaving she said "Merric wait, come back. I have more customers for you." She bought FOUR more jars of Merric's Marvelous peanut butter. She emptied my backpack and totally made my day!

Kid Entrepreneur Rewards = Nerf Guns

I made $45 selling my own peanut butter, and because it was my first day selling I got to spend all of it on whatever I wanted. So obviously I bought Nerf guns... and a box of popsicles for my mom.

After I came home from buying Nerf guns, Mr. Bob (a guy walking by as I sold peanut butter) brought money for a jar of peanut butter and wanted to buy more. He's been back for refills!

The best thing that happened: The lady emptying my backpack of peanut butter for my biggest sale.

The worst thing that happened: Getting said no to, but I got my courage from it.

"My advice for kid entrepreneurs is: if you don't succeed try, try again." ~Merric Tate
